Top 5 common questions about carnivore diet

It is happening, carnivore diet is becoming popular, especially with people who are looking to reverse chronic disease. As a result, there are many questions that surface.  Here are the top 5 common questions about carnivore diet:

  1. WHAT ABOUT FIBER?

The best thing about fiber is that you don’t need it.  Your gut microbiome will adjust to the new way of eating and so will your bowel movements.  In fact, there is study of statistical significance, showing that the idiopathic constipation was resolved in test subjects when fiber was completely removed.

And there is one more plus of ditching fiber, no more bloating after your meals.

  1. HOW MUCH RED MEAT SHOULD I EAT?

Most people heard that red meat may give them colorectal cancer so they don’t think they should eat a lot of red meat.  A few years ago, The World Health Organization (WHO) released a report titled “Carcinogenicity of Consumption of Red and Processed Meat,” warning that processed meat causes colorectal cancer in humans, and that red meat probably causes colorectal cancer as well.  The report was based on the study carried out on rats who were injected with carcinogen and then fed meat. You can see problems with these studies right away.  Check out Dr Georgia Ede’s analyses of that WHO report and the studies that were used.

Humans evolved eating meat. It always has been a foundation of the human diet. Eat as much red meat as you need to feel satiated and prioritize red meat over fish, chicken or seafood.

  1. IS COFFEE OK ON CARNIVORE DIET?

People love to drink their coffee. For many, the carnivore diet without coffee would be a deal breaker.  People do a carnivore diet and have amazing results while still drinking coffee.

I recommend going carnivore first, give it three months, and if at that time, you haven’t achieved your health goals then quit coffee as well.

To be perfectly consistent with the carnivore diet, you should quit coffee, but if you won’t start on the diet because you can’t imagine life without coffee, then get on the carnivore diet with the coffee, it’s fine, the major point is to get started.

  1. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY ON CARNIVORE DIET?

Carnivore diet is perfect for all conditions that are caused by increased gut permeability. Think autoimmunity, asthma, allergies, etc. The gut cells renew themselves every 28 days. So your gut lining may improve very quickly, however how long will it take for your immune system to adjust, will depend on your genetics, length of time you were ill, the type of medication you were taking.

It can take weeks or months. One thing is for sure, people with gut issues, even when healed, need to be careful with introduction of other foods. You will not be able to get back to eating processed food, grains, and conventional dairy.

  1. DO I HAVE TO BE IN KETOSIS?

The short answer is No.  You can enjoy carnivore diet without ketosis. That said, if your diet has a lot of fatty meat in it, you likely are going to be in ketosis. if you have a lot of inflammation, ketosis can speed up reversal of this condition. There are very many benefits to ketosis, but some people don’t like to be in ketosis or it’s too much work for them.

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you need to optimize your health, lose weight, struggle with chronic conditions, give carnivore diet a try, you won’t regret it.
